Why is it Important?

The day you start your business, you must place the “Matlamat” in the front row. This is a critical issue that does not get enough attention. Many commercial owners are asked, “What is the purpose of your trade?” will answer “make money” (or something similar). You may be thinking, “Is not the purpose of doing business not a profit?” I can definitely say “no”. By serving your purpose well and doing it in a profitable way, you will “produce money”. Larger, more desirable and more desirable mathematics that you choose to worship, the more money you can make.

Should I meet you at a party and ask you to tell me about your trade, where will you start? Most people tell me about their role, headline, function, or product or reverence. For example, one may say they are the Rakan Kongsi Affairs of the fortune firms, or the taxes, or the juruaudit. A CEO may say that he has a company that issues a skin care product. However, if that’s what they perceive as their matlamat, they face a problem. If you look at the market, there are more offerings for almost every product and service you may name. Think about it. When was the last time you thought, “There is no customs or juruaudit that can be found where is it?” When was the last time you heard someone say, “If I had more choice of skin care products because it was not enough?” It will not work. Because there are more offerings, perkhidmatan and products available where you go, so online and by phone, and may be delivered within 24 hours.

Now imagine the same people have different views on their matlamah. For example, I have a customer firms firms that aim to increase the wealth of corporate customers. They have built a set of fields of practice in excise, audit, technology, wealth management, and others. For each customer, they create a force that uses the power of every troop expert to figure out the best strategy each year to help maximize their customers’ wealth. Though you may point out that every great company has the same field of practice, the views of the company about what they do and why they exist are the makers of the difference. My clients’ view led them to form a non-traditional clientele structure. They build a typical tool kit, hire a special source, and act on the will of their customers with a unique purpose. I can assure you that not all fortune firms generate the kind of relationship with their customers that allows these positive things to prevail and thereby fail to help their clients achieve their full potential as a result.
Only after you set your matlamat, are you in a position to answer the following questions:

1. What issues should our business solve for our customers?
2. What does our business need to do to achieve the matlamat?
3. What kind of customers do we want, and what is our relationship?

This collection of porcelain art in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of China is a breath-taking sight of ingenuity – the Sanbao Art Museum!
Sanbao village, a scenic place not far from the Central City of Jingdezhen in China, hosts a nascent, dynamic, porcelain-centric hub with porcelain artists’ studios and porcelain-related industries, causing a highly competitive environment, where it takes great ingenuity and endless efforts to be the best. The relationship between the artists and their creation is sort of romantic, like the feeling of first love: indirect probing, exploring, negotiating and subtle manoeuvring. And the transformation in the pottery kilns is like the process of developing films – full of uncertainties; like the photographers’ having projected their best imaginations onto the films, but results will be unravelled only after the mandatory stint in the dark room!

But it is these very risks and uncertainties that mandate detail and delicacy; brain power juxtaposed against a passionate song in the heart… romanticism at its best!

An art museum in this milieu not just builds an interactive space to encourage reciprocal communication between visitors and the space, both emotionally and behaviourally, it inculcates sensitivity and imagination. The museum is a visually linear shape, 150m long, but the visiting flow is nonlinear, with visitors having multiple paths to explore. The purpose is to boost serendipity between people and spaces. Architecture creates the atmosphere with which visitors have personal connections. Walls, the most important part at shaping exhibition space and atmosphere, are made of rammed earth to offer a poetic feeling. The main passage is a long transparent space, 100m; around which rammed-earth walls, 4m high, grow from earth.

Major materials used in building the museum, such as rammed earth, titanium zinc panels and travertine, will be eroded by time. This process of erosion is like the fermentation of wine, time gives its unique flavour. In addition, Sanbao village naturally produces unique soil, slightly red in colour, so the continuous loam walls are built with local clay, delivering a certain familiarity and tension.

Experiences vary, when visitors walk through different areas, attracted by the outstretched eaves after the woods area. The sound from the creeks relaxes, whilst what lies ahead leads visitors further into a cryptic but joyful world. Every tour becomes a story between visitors and architecture – a mix of discovery, expectation, waiting, anxiety, disappointment and joy. So how do you eat less?

Use smaller dishes for your meals. It’s hard to serve small portions on large plates because we certainly liked our full plates.

Drinking one or two glasses of water before meals also helps. This trick makes your stomach feel full.

You can also try eating with non-dominant hands. If you are left-handed, for example, use your right hand. In this way, you will eat more slowly and keep your food in mind.

NEW YORK – Shalane Flanagan pulled away from Mary Keitany on Sunday to become the first American to win the women’s New York City Marathon since 1977.

Keitany had won three straight New York marathons, but Flanagan pulled away from the Kenyan great with about three miles to go. Flanagan finished with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, 53 seconds – about a minute faster than Keitany.

The American cried and yelled as she approached the finish line alone.

The last American woman to win New York was Miki Gorman, who won consecutive titles in 1976-77.

Flanagan finished second in New York in her first marathon in 2010 but had not run this race since. After a fracture in her lower back kept her out of the Boston Marathon, Flanagan trained hard for New York with an eye on Keitany.

Flanagan called Keitany “the alpha racer” and said she was ready to “suffer dearly” while keeping up with the unpredictable Kenyan. Flanagan had said she may retire if she won New York.

More than 50,000 runners from across the globe pushed themselves to the limit to traverse each of the five boroughs over a whopping 26 miles and change, CBS New York reports.

The day was dedicated to the spirit and pride, and was marked by the presence of the police. 2.5 million spectators cheering them on along the city-spanning route.

The enhanced security was in response to the truck attack in lower Manhattan on Halloween. Eight people were killed when terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov sped down the popular bike path near the West Side Highway, mowing down innocent cyclists and pedestrians.

Welcome to Fall

Welcome to Fall

I have just spent a week in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The foliage was just starting to turn into a wonderful koliascope of colors. Unseasonably warm then while there, we are now getting back to the usual temperatures of October. The gardens are wilting down, the skins on the tomatoes are thicker, canning and freezing are in full operation. Corn stalks are turning brown in the fields, and as the leaves die back, acres of bright orange pumpkins are evident against the backdrop of browning leaves. Sumacs along the edge of the swamps are bright red and are probably the earliest of the changing season.
The tree leaves, although still changing color here, are starting to drop. They go in stages. Most noticeable are the maples as they seem to go overnight. The oaks, that are most abundant in this area, go more slowly. Many do not lose all of their leaves over the fall but wait for spring and new growth. All I really know is that by Thanksgiving I will be knee deep in leaves and thanking God for leaf blowers.

Right now the houses on the street are slowly starting to sport scarecrows, orange lights, pumpkins, and corn stalks. Soon the neighborhood children will be buying and making costumes for trick-or-treating. I’m stocking up on candy bars as there will be about one hundred little ones knocking at my door. Some not so little ones, too. I chuckle at the less than one-year-olds that come in their parents’ arms, knowing full well that these babe-in-arms will get none of the bounties.

It is a wonderful time of year. With a chill in the air, it is a great time for walking and hiking. Despite a year with a heavy infestation of gypsy moths, the oak trees have put out an abundance of acorns. That means that with this bounty the squirrels will have been just as busy reproducing large litters. That may mean a problem for next year. If the season does not provide for the newcomers, then the population of squirrels will dwindle again. They come and go from year to year.

It’s the time of year that I start looking towards my own Halloween decorating. I don’t do a lot, but do enjoy carving pumpkins. Choosing from a collection of patterns that were collected over the years, I pick them based on available time and the effort required to do the work. There is a ghost that hangs from a tree to welcome the kids with a cackle. Using white paper bags and black silhouettes, luminaria lines the walk up to the front door. The advent of flickering battery operated lights take away the danger of flames in the pumpkins and luminaria. Other smaller lights and decorations are brought out of storage. The costume for the dog involves a bandana and motorcycle hat. My own costume comes from a collection in that same storage area and varies from year to year. With a motorcycle dog, then a motorcycle Mama may end up being the choice.

Not a big fan of roasted pumpkin seeds, when the guts are pulled from the pumpkins, I put the collection in a large shallow roasting pan. This pan is placed on a storage box on the deck just outside of the living room window. From my recliner, I am privy to a private show of the squirrels coming up to feed on them. It keeps them out of the bird feeders. The biggest male always stakes his claim on the pan of seeds, chasing away all others. Somehow that just doesn’t seem fair.

For newcomers to barge holidays, all barges may look the same. However, there are many types of ships with striking differences in history and design. This barging tradition can be traced back to the seventeenth century. Originally wind-powered Tjalks were built of wood; In the nineteenth century, ship builders began to consider the possibility of iron and on twentieth century steel properties exploited by this industry. Therefore, the modern version of Tjalk is constructed of iron or steel, yet retains the stern arch of indigenous wood.

Designed for fast-flowing estuaries and rivers in the Netherlands, the tough Klipper is always built of iron or steel. The use of steel leads to a stronger vessel, although this introduces the danger of corrosion. Klipper’s steering sat under a stern round and ridden with wheels. Beurtmotor and Luxemotor

Beurtmotor is used for passengers and cargo and often travels to a reliable schedule, replacing steam-powered steamers. It became even more popular with the introduction of diesel engines because their scheduling was more consistent than ever before. Like other barges, Beurtmotor was built to navigate the shallow waters – anywhere between 3 and about 10 feet of water. However this is not a limitation, as most inland waters in western Europe conform to this requirement.

Luxemotor trailblazing was built in the early 20th century and was the first barge to have its own machine. Driving on Beurtmotor’s success, they are quite luxurious with plenty of space – including kitchens and toilets – as well as a pointy bow that is ideal for more open waters.

Spitz

Spitz has a long and varied history. They were built to the standard of Freycinet imposed by Napoleon during the standardization period, and the ship was first withdrawn by hand (or horse). However, after the Second World War many Belgian Spitz ships were kitted out with tank machines that were often disabled. With some adjustments at the stern to fix the wheel, the Spitz Motor version is designed for canals in France, Belgium and the Netherlands.

European Air Line: Our Fleet

The European Airway fleet includes a barge with lots of history behind them. Vacation barges match the history lover and cruise ship enthusiasts. For example, L’Art de Vivre – the oldest fleet – is an English model and built in the First World War to supply allied forces in the Somme.
